E2 · Why we exist

We are different.
By design.

We like being different. Not different for attention, and not different just to be contrarian. Different on purpose, in how we treat people, how we make money, and how we build on the internet. Most of the internet was designed to extract. E2 was designed to help.

Two ways to build the internet

Same technology. Completely different intentions. Put them side by side and the choice gets very simple.

The E2 way

A happy, helpful community

Built to support people, celebrate what they make, and give as much away as we possibly can.

  • ✓
People are neighborsReal people with names, faces, and stories. We learn who you are and cheer for what you are building.
  • ✓
Help comes firstQuestions get answers. Beginners get encouragement. Struggling gets support, not shame.
  • ✓
Free as much as possibleFree sites, free learning, free games, free tools. If we can make it free without breaking the lights, we do.
  • ✓
Open by defaultWe default to open source when we can, share how things work, and let people build on top of it.
  • ✓
Money serves the missionWe make enough to keep growing and pay people fairly, then put the rest back into the community.
  • ✓
Kindness sets the toneNo pile ons, no outrage bait, no humiliation for clicks. Safe, warm, and fun is the standard.
  • ✓
Success is people helpedThings made, skills learned, friends found, and confidence built. That is the scoreboard that matters.
Much of the internet today

Toxic, selfish, extractive

Built to capture your attention, your data, and your wallet, and to keep you scrolling whether you feel good or not.

  • ×
People are the productYou are a user, a click, a data point. Your attention is sold to whoever pays the most.
  • ×
Outrage gets rewardedAnger and anxiety spread fastest, so the algorithms feed you more of both, all day long.
  • ×
Everything has a paywallFree to start, charged at every turn. Features drip out one upgrade at a time.
  • ×
Locked down and ownedClosed systems, locked in accounts, and rules that change without warning. You build it, they own it.
  • ×
Profit comes firstSqueeze more from everyone, take advantage where you can, and call it smart business.
  • ×
Comparison makes you feel smallEndless highlight reels, public shaming, and pile ons that leave people worse than they arrived.
  • ×
Success is time trappedMore minutes, more ads, more addiction. If you leave feeling drained, the system still calls it a win.

We are not pretending the rest of the internet is all bad. There are good people and good projects everywhere. We are simply choosing, out loud and on purpose, to build the other kind of place.

What different means here

Different is not a slogan on a wall. It shows up in dozens of small decisions we make every single week.

01 · Happy

Happy is a design choice

Bright pages, friendly faces, games, music, and celebration built into the everyday. Joy is not an accident here. We plan for it, because people do their best work when they feel good.

02 · Helpful

Helpful beats clever

We would rather answer the simple question kindly than win an argument. Tutorials, feedback, introductions, and a second set of eyes are just normal life in this community.

03 · Free first

Make it free if we can

Your first site is free. Learning is free. Playing is free. Joining is free. Paid things exist to support the free things, never to replace them.

04 · Open

Open source, open doors

When we can open source it, we do. When we can teach how it was made, we teach it. Hoarding knowledge helps nobody. Sharing it compounds.

05 · Generous

Give more than we take

Tips, bounties, credit for creators, and real chances for people who show up and try. Generosity is not a campaign here. It is the operating system.

06 · Safe

Kind and safe, on purpose

Clear rules, private moderation, and no public shaming. A place can be ambitious and gentle at the same time. Ours insists on both.

Different, in practice

If you spend a week inside E2, this is what you will actually feel.

We would rather help a thousand people for free than squeeze a hundred.

That sentence decides budgets, features, and partnerships at E2. It costs us money in the short run. It builds something that lasts in the long run: a community people actually love, trust, and bring their friends to.

Come be different with us.

You do not need to be an expert, famous, or rich to belong here. You just need to be kind and curious. We will help with the rest.
