What it is

After the Second World War, the Philippines had thousands of leftover military jeeps and a whole country that needed to get around. So Filipino builders did what Filipino builders do: they stretched the jeeps, added long benches and a roof, painted them in every color on earth, and turned them into the jeepney, the king of the road and the most joyful public transport ever made.

A jeepney is more than a vehicle. It is a rolling art gallery, a small business, a neighborhood landmark, and a daily act of resourcefulness. Every one is different, every one is somebody's pride, and every one will somehow fit one more passenger.

This one is ours. The E2 Jeepney wears royal blue and chrome, the golden eight-ray sun of the Philippine flag, three stars, and a laurel for the riders. It carries people, songs, stories, and now, websites.

The rules of this jeepney

🪑

Always room for one more

The first and only seating policy. However full the jeepney looks, slide over: there is a seat for the next person.

🎵

The fare is never money

Nobody pays in cash. You pay with a story, a song, or good company on the ride up front. That is the whole price.

🤝

Kindness rides shotgun

Passengers help each other with the fare, the bags, and the directions. It is a community that happens to have wheels.

The driver

Kuya Marco Dela Cruz, driver of the E2 Jeepney, waving beside his blue jeepney

Kuya Marco Dela Cruz

Every great jeepney has a great driver, and ours is Kuya Marco. "Kuya" means big brother, and that is exactly how he drives: like everybody on board is family. He knows every route, every shortcut, and somehow everybody's name by the second stop.

"Sakay na!" (Hop on!)

Its second job: Jeepney.host

By day the Jeepney carries passengers. Online, it carries websites. Jeepney.host is free website hosting for Filipino creatives who are two things: TALENTED and KIND. Your site rides free, the same rule applies (there is always room for one more), and the first goal is a full jeepney: 10 hosted websites.
