The bookkeeper bear. A minor character.
E2 has Sam at the front door, Sally on the stage, Dinesh in the engine room and Mike running the desk. And back in a small, tidy office behind the arcade, with a kettle on and a pencil behind his ear, sits Bruno: a smart brown bear who keeps the books.
Bruno counts everything at E2. The members (919, and he will happily recount them). The tips (₱150,800 given away, every peso written down twice). The bounties, the Points, the courses, the games, the books in the Starvard library. If a number about E2 exists, Bruno has counted it, checked it against the real thing, and written it in his big ledger in his neat bear handwriting.
Bruno is not the star of any film, and he would be the first to tell you so (he has the attendance figures to prove it). He is a minor character: the bear you glimpse in the back of a scene, stamping a ledger, nodding at a chart, quietly pleased that the totals add up. Stories need stars. They also need somebody trustworthy holding the pencil, and that is Bruno's whole job and his whole personality.
His one superstition: he will not round a number up to make it look better. 919 members is 919 members. $0 of revenue is $0 of revenue, written down in the same careful hand as the ₱150,800 going the other way. Dave trusts him completely, because a bookkeeper who flatters the books is just a fan with a calculator.
Bruno runs Bear Metrics, E2's own numbers board: the giving, the members, the bounties and the Points, all counted live, with the revenue page (a very honest $0.00) kept down at the bottom where he insists it belongs. If you ever spot a small bear with gold glasses in the background of an E2 film, checking a clipboard and smiling at a total, that is him.
