E2 ยท Working together

Build with us.

People make amazing things in our community every day, and sometimes a project grows into an official E2 collaboration. Here is how that works, in plain words, because good paper makes for good friends.

Your work is yours

Your characters, your games, your art, your engine. Full stop. We will never claim your work because you shared it with the community, and if we feature it, that is a shout-out, not a takeover. Your cat stays your cat. Forever.

Collabs run on a brief

When a project uses E2 characters or worlds, we sign a one-page brief first: what gets built, what it pays, whose stuff is whose. Your pre-existing work stays yours, licensed for the project. What gets built with our characters belongs to E2. The pay in the brief is the whole pay.

The Commons is open

Some of our characters are licensed CC BY-SA for everyone: Bibo, Noor, Fenn, Doodle, and friends. Build with them, even commercially. Credit E2, share your version openly, keep them kind. The shelves are explained on The Tiers.

How an official collab starts

  1. Make something, show the room. Post your work in the Discord. Everything you make on your own is yours, and the room will cheer.
  2. If it grows toward our world, we talk. A mod or Dave reaches out, or you do. No obligations either way, this is still just conversation.
  3. We sign the brief. One page: deliverables, pay, ownership, credit line. Under it sits the Community Creator Agreement, written in plain English first and legal second. Signing is electronic and takes minutes.
  4. Then we build. Paper first is what lets everyone be generous afterward: no misunderstandings in year three, no claims over a film or a musical in year ten. The paper protects you from us exactly as much as it protects us.

The house rule, in one line: we would rather credit a thousand creators than claim one cat.

The arithmetic rule: thousands of people brainstorm in this community, so similar ideas will happen by chance alone. Ideas floated in community spaces are voluntary submissions and create no claims on either side. If an idea truly matters to you, the protected route is a brief before building, and any mod can start one.

Formal documents: the Community Creator Agreement (E2-CC-001) and its one-page Project Brief govern every official collaboration. Questions go through the legal hub, where a person reads everything.
