His story
The network grew the way gardens do: a little every day, and then all at once. Thousands of pages on the farm, hundreds of faces and photos on Llama Chat, more every single morning. One night, a single broken avatar sat on the front page for hours and nobody noticed until breakfast. That was the night Dave said it out loud: we need someone whose whole job is noticing.
Spector arrived the next day with a brass magnifying glass in one hand and a clipboard in the other, and he started that same night. Nobody has ever seen him without either one. The crew is not sure he sleeps. He says sleep is just a longer round between checks.
His rounds are simple to describe and endless to do. Every 30 minutes he walks Llama Chat end to end and checks every avatar and every photo byte by byte, against the real file, on the real site. And every time the Clear Recipe farm crosses another 5,000 pages, he runs the full census of the whole farm: every language, every recipe, every picture, every link, counted one at a time.
What makes him him is the report. When something fails, Spector does not raise an alarm and wave his arms. He writes down the exact failure and the exact address, hands over the list, and goes back to walking. And when everything passes? He says nothing at all. Around here, silence from Spector is the best news there is.
The crew trusts his clipboard the way sailors trust a lighthouse. A page with his green check on it is a page you can stand on. He is gentle about it, too. Finding the broken thing is never the end of his report. It is the beginning of fixing it.
