How we count · the small print
People come from Google Analytics, which counts each person once per site. It cannot tell that the same person visited two of our sites, so we add the sites up as people served per site and keep the label honest. We never call the total unique humans.
The careful count, the headline, removes Denver, which is mostly us testing our own sites, and also removes Ashburn and Singapore. Those two cities are mostly data centers, so traffic from them is usually bots or servers rather than readers. The generous count removes Denver only.
Visits and pageviews come from Cloudflare. Cloudflare counts visits, not people, and one person can visit many times, so those columns run bigger than the people column on purpose.
The counters only started when the tracking tags were installed, in mid-October 2026 for most of our sites, so these totals cover recent days, not the whole life of each site. Clear Recipe, CLR.fm, and Starvard use Cloudflare beacons that have only been collecting for a few hours so far, so their numbers start small and will grow quickly. The Studio people count runs high: its counter is older, and for a while it also fired on some E2 pages.
Only E2, Llama Chat, and The Studio have a Google Analytics counter, so the other teams show n/a for people. Their turn at bat comes as the counters spread.
