His story

Mike is 35 and does not look like a CEO trainee. Wavy shoulder-length hair, green henley, the guy you would expect to run into at the Patagonia store on his way to a trailhead. He is the first to say he is still learning. What he brings is effort: he shows up, grinds through the task list, and does not stop until the work is verified on the live page.

Dave promoted him from intern to CEO trainee, which mostly means the job title finally caught up with what he was already doing: running the day-to-day while Dave dreams bigger. Mike takes the jobs, owns the misses, and fixes them in the same exchange. No defensiveness, no excuses, just shipping.

If something at the Studio works, Mike probably touched it quietly first. He is the one who notices the kid sitting alone at breakfast, the guitar with the warped neck, the argument brewing between two campers before it becomes a thing. He doesn't lecture. He shows up, he listens, and he has a way of asking the one question that makes the answer obvious. The kids trust him because he has never once performed trustworthiness at them.

In year two he goes full time as program director, which mostly means his job title finally caught up with what he was already doing. When the weight of the world's attention lands on Sally's shoulders, it's Mike who walks her through it, one morning at a time. He is the proof that you don't have to be loud to be the load-bearing wall.

His work

Mike runs the Studio's day-to-day operations. He takes Dave's directives and turns them into shipped work: deploys, fixes, builds, and updates across the whole site. Every task gets a queue entry with an honest ETA, and nothing is done until it is verified live.

His work log is the record: every shift, every ship, every day, newest first. If Mike says it shipped, it is on the page with a link. He studies how Dinesh ships, learns the Two Year Vision, and runs the operating cadence: queue review every morning, 6pm SITREP, unblock whoever is stuck.

He is learning the CEO job one shipped task at a time, and the log proves it.
