The official visitor guide.

Romula

The city before the city, still warm, still welcoming.
Come walk the old streets.

Romula at golden hour: marble streets, the great fountain in the square, and citizens strolling between the columns

The old streets

Every road here leads somewhere kind.

Romula's streets have been walked for two thousand years, and they have the polish to prove it. Shopkeepers sweep the same stones their grandparents swept. Somebody is always carrying bread somewhere. Start anywhere. The city will take it from there.

The old streets at first light. Walk slowly. The city notices.

The town square

The fountain never stopped.

Every city in E2 has a center, and this is where the idea started. The great fountain has run since Romula was founded, and the best seats in the city are still on its rim: an old man, a mother, a boy, feet in the water, nowhere else to be. The doves drink for free. The wishes, visitors report, have an unusually high success rate.

The fountain in the square. Sit on the rim. Stay for one wish, or three.

The baths

Warm water. Warmer people.

The public baths are Romula's living room. Senators and bakers soak side by side, because in the water everybody is just a citizen with wet feet. The mosaics are old, the water is perfect, and the conversation never runs dry.

The Pantheon

Built to make you look up.

The dome of the Pantheon has watched over Romula longer than anyone can remember, and it still does its one job perfectly: it makes every visitor stop, look up, and go quiet for a second. Go inside at noon, when the light falls straight down like it was poured.

Daily life

Markets, music, and long lunches.

Romula runs on a simple schedule: market in the morning, work you can be proud of, lunch that takes as long as it takes, and music somewhere by evening. The city invented taking your time, and it has never once apologized for it.

Market day. Nobody in Romula has ever eaten lunch in a hurry.

The citizens

Say hello. They insist.

Romulans are the friendliest people in the old world, and it is not close. Ask for directions and you will get directions, a story, and possibly dinner. The citizens consider a visitor a celebration that has not been introduced yet.

The citizens. You will know everyone's name by Thursday.

The promise

Romula was carved here first.

Before E2 was a world, it was an idea, and the idea was carved into Romulan stone: build the place you would want to live in, then invite everyone. The carving is still here. So is the invitation.

The Romula carving: the name Romula cut into marble, worn smooth by centuries of hands

The carving. Touch it for luck. Everyone does. It works.
